Title winner: Man United - just can't see beyond them after their summer spending

Top four: Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal - I am not on board with the Liverpool bandwagon just yet but will be close run thing.

Relegated: Anyone from six, but Norwich, QPR and Wigan

Surprise package: Wolves - Could push for a top half finish with good start

Championship winner: Middlesbrough - Tony Mowbray has Boro playing best football in the division!

Champions League winner: Barcelona - Still miles ahead of anyone

Top scorer: Andy Carroll - Will start to repay some of his huge price tag

Player of the year: David Silva - Could be sensational for City this year

Best young gun: Tom Cleverley - Looks on course to have a big season

Biggest flop: Jordan Henderson - Just no way he will be able to live up to £16million billing

Best buy: Stewart Downing - Liverpool needed a good crosser of the ball for Carroll and they got one of the best around.

Sack race winner: Neil Warnock - mainly due to behind the scenes struggles, although David Moyes could decide to walk before him.

Barton was already irate after being stamped on by Alex Song, who avoided a red card, in an earlier incident and he accused Gervinho of diving in the Newcastle penalty area.

The former Manchester City man then fell to the floor claiming he was punched by Gervinho. Replays showed it was a slap, but it was still an ugly flash point in what was an otherwise uneventful contest.
